Seasonal/Religious galleries

Palm Bible
I have published a series of Religious Seasonal photography. Most have been shot for previously published projects and are organized on the Seasonal/Religious gallery page. Christmas and Easter have been uploaded so far.

New Site

The site has been modified once again to allow for more frequent updating of content. A publishing bug has been fixed which will hopefully allow me to keep things more current.

Foggy Day

Foggy Pines 1
It has been a while since this site has received an image content update so I thought I'd post some new landscape images I took the other. It was beautifully foggy, which created all sorts of depths and moody colours. These have been placed in the logical "Landscape" gallery. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed just watching the fog roll in and away.

Springs is here!

Red Flower
Spring is finally here, the weather and newly developing plant-life prove it! Although winter provides it's own challenges and photographic opportunities, I find the warmer months of the year a lot more enjoyable and productive. I just thought I'd note this with a small addition to the flower gallery. The first of this year, and more will surely come.

A little further wildlife

Bird Perch
I have posted a few images of wildlife shot with a Nikkor 300mm IF-ED AF (not AF-S). These are preliminary images shot with this configuration that I'm sharing for those interested in my use of the lens, and so far consist mainly of avian subjects. More to come as my Kenko 1.4x Teleconverter returns from service, which will yield an effective 420mm, f5.6 lens (my main reason for acquiring this lens). The Wildlife gallery (recently renamed from Nature) will also soon be revamped with a more organized collection of recent and older photographs of that genre.

Fly Zoomified

Red Eye Fly
Posted a higher resolution, Zoomifier enabled, image in the High Resolution gallery. Clicking here will also take you the flash player for this image. The image has been posted to show another example of detail, information, and art that can be shared through high resolution images. More will come in the future, but this is one of the images that contains interesting details from a world we rarely see with our own bare eyes.

First D200 Photos

Squirrel 2 Level
I'm still learning about the differences in performance between my old D70 and the new D200, but the process is going smoothly. Not that handling is all that different. In fact, things tend to almost be more intuitive on the new body. In any cases, I'll be posting some new images I have captured during these local learning excursions. One very surprising improvement is the performance during long exposures. The D200 performs very well in terms of faster noise reduction and excellent thermal noise performance. The "Moon Clouds" image was captured during drastic cloud colour changes while exploring these limits. More to come...

IPC Directory Cover

Church Web 2
Shot and processed an architectural image for the cover of a directory produced by IPC Canada. A larger version can be found in the photo gallery section of this website. This was a tricky image to capture due to various factors including perspective, good light, and interesting backround detail.

Landscape category

A bit of re-organising has happened in that I have added a Landscape category. Partially due to the fact that this style of photography has been growing and also due to the fact that I now have a Sigma 10-20 wide angle zoom lens that will see a good amount of use in the genre.

First in Christmas Cards

Book Card 1
Posted the first in a series of Christmas Card for the Morningside-High Park Presbyterian Church. These will be part of a circulation of Christmas wishes and fund raising material for the 2005 Christmas season. This will also likely result in a projects category on this website when the images are complete. This category will contain images grouped by assignments and other unified project categories. All pictures from this series will posted when complete.

Heron and more

Heron 1
I spent the day off photographing nature and gathered some interesting captures. Some of these are posted in various galleries on the site. Primarily the Nature and Macro gallery. Though due to the increasing size of some of these galleries, the organization of content on the site may soon change.

Portraits for SWC

Film Strip 2sm
I have just completed a series of portraits for an album project I have been working on. Some of these portraits have been posted along with the composite promotional layout for it. More from this series may be posted if they are completed. Since this shoot, I have been asked to bring this visual style to other projects, so you may see even more posted in the future.

Wolves

Posted some photographs of a trip to the Haliburton Wolf Centre. A great place to see such animals in the most natural way possible without extensive involvement in a more formal excursion. The animals are left to live natural lives and exhibit their natural societal behavior with minimal human intervention beyond feeding. And even that is kept to natural levels of exposure.

In addition to the Wolf photographs (temporarily in the 'nature' gallery), there are also a few other images posted while on my trip into Northern Ontario.

Airshow

I went to the Toronto International Airshow (first time in quite a few years) to shoot a bunch of photos and to enjoy the demonstrations of aviation. Only a few of the photos have been posted in the 'Other' gallery. There will soon be a gallery section for the various events for which I happen to have photographs that I wish to share. In the meantime these photos will likely stay where they are.

Eye and others

Newly posted a processed eye photo, and a hi-resolution image thereof in the respective gallery. The eye image is posted as an example of the colour and detail that can be appreciated in the simplest of shots with the Zoomify player. Of course there is more to come as promised...as time allows me to finish all the projects I hope to finish.

Northern Photos

Some quick drafts of images have been posted to the other gallery. These few additions are photographs are taken in Northern Ontario and are part of larger collection of various images I took while there. The site is still undergoing changes, and a greater amount of photography for the site is also still under development but the site will still undergo occasional incremental updates until that content will be uploaded.

Special Galleries Added

I have updated the site to include two galleries that make use of two specific image technologies/formats. I have added the Quicktime VR Gallery that uses Apples Quicktime extension to display interactive panoramas. I have also added the High Resolution image gallery that uses the Zoomify Flash player to allow viewing of high resolution images while efficiently minimizing the required bandwidth. Both galleries currently only have test images, but will be updated as soon as possible. There are a few projects I have shot that will make use of both galleries but simply need to be processed and assembled for display here. Needless to say you will have to have Quicktime and Flash installed to make use of these. The galleries can be found under the photo gallery heading. Direct links are: Quicktime VR Gallery, and High Resolution Image Gallery.
